What You Should Know About Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.

What you should know about Samsung galaxy Z fold 3.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 fixed the loopholes in the Z Fold 2. Despite the Z Fold 2 being an immense improvement of the Z Fold 1, its major flaw was its pricey price tag, which started at $1999 when it was launched.

The Samsung Z Fold 3 bridged the gap by offering Samsung Z Fold enthusiasts a sensibly-priced phone engineered with premium material and premium features. The Samsung Z Fold 3 starts at $1799, and if you are wondering what you should know about Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, then this is the post for you.

1. The Multitasking capability

One notable feature the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has over its competitors and its predecessor is its top-notch multitasking capabilities. Starting, the Samsung Z Fold 3 comes with a large screen to allow you to perform multiple activities for maximum productivity. Both the Z fold 2 and Z Fold 3 have the same screen size, meaning you are getting the same screen real estate with either phone but at a more affordable rate if you purchase the Z Fold 3.

One new feature the Z Fold 3 comes with is the “Lab Feature”. This new feature makes multitasking a breeze by allowing you to maximize the large-screen real estate. The Labs feature allows you to use up to three apps simultaneously by creating multi-windows in the form of split screens or a pop-up view.

You also get to enjoy the Auto-Rotate and Aspect Ratio features. The Auto Rotate feature automatically adjusts and optimizes your screen when multitasking, no matter the position you hold your phone. The Aspect Ratio feature allows you to choose the aspect ratio of each app; you have the option of choosing between Full Screen, 16:9, 4:3, or the default aspect ratio of the app, giving you more control over how you want your multitasking screen.

In addition, the Labs Feature allows you to enjoy the Flex Mode Panel feature, which ensures that an app being used will automatically adjust and optimize its layout to fit the screen when you are switching from fully opening both screens of the phone to folding the phone to use only one screen. That the app will appear on the top half of the screen while a panel with features to control the app will be on the bottom half of the screen.

Finally, the Samsung Z Fold 3 allows you to lock your Edge Panel in place to the side of the screen, making it easy for you to access the apps and functionalities on your Edge Panel without any hassle.

2. Performance

The Samsung Z Fold 3 combines its exceptional multitasking capabilities with outstanding performance features. The Samsung Z Fold 3 features a powerful SnapDragon 888 5G chipset coupled with 12 GB RAM, which is 16% faster than the Snapdragon 865+ found in its predecessor. This means, your apps get to run smoothly and faster on the Samsung Z Fold 3.

The refresh rate on both displays beats that of the Z Fold 2 by a wide margin. The Samsung Z Fold 2 had a 60Hz display on the outer display and a 120 Hz refresh rate on the inner display; which was quite a terrible idea. The Fold 3 fixes this by ensuring that both the outer and inner foldable displays have a high refresh rate of 120 Hz for a fluid and smoother motion when using the device.

Just like with the Fold 2, both screens of the Fold 3 are also made with Samsung’s dynamic Amoled 2x displays to give you cinema-grade colors and reduce the amount of blue light emitted by the screen.

3. S pen support

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the first Galaxy Fold device to support Samsung’s S Pen. The stylus used on the Galaxy Fold 3 is quite different from that used on other Samsung devices such as the infamous Samsung Galaxy Note lineup, or that of the SamsungGalaxyS21.

The first difference is that the phone doesn’t come with a slot where you can insert the pen after use. Also, the S Pen of the Fold 3 comes with a rounded rubber tip with a spring feature which allows the tip retracts into its body when you write or tap on apps, to prevent it from poking and damaging the delicate flexible screen of the Z Fold 3.

4. Stronger screen

Even though the screen might be quite delicate, it is the strongest and most durable screen among the Z Fold lineup.

Starting from the outside, the metal frame and hinges of the phone are made of a different type of aluminum which Samsung refers to as Armor Aluminum which is thinner, lighter, and stronger than the other aluminum used in previous Samsung phones.

Starting from inside– which is the main concern for most people– the inner foldable screen is made from Samsung’s patented “Ultra-thin Glass” display. However, what makes the inner screen of the Fold 3 unique is that it is protected by two robust yet thin-film layers, which protect the inner screens when the phone is unfolded, making the Fold 3 80% more durable than its predecessors, as Samsung claims.

The outer/cover screen and back panel are made from durable Gorilla Glass Victus, which is 2X scratch-resistant and 50% more durable than that of its predecessors.

The Samsung Fold 3 is the first phone on the lineup to offer its users IPX-8 water-resistance capabilities, which can be submerged in waters of depths of up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. This is a feature that cannot be found on any other foldable smartphone besides Flip3 and Fold 3.

5. Camera

Taking high-quality photos on your Z Fold 3 shouldn’t be a problem. However, one camera feature we want to highlight in the Z Fold 3 is the under-display camera on the inner display. This innovative feature hides the camera from sight (although not hidden) to make your screen look seamless without any breakages.

That being said, the Samsung Z Fold features a power 12 MP primary and ultra-wide rare cameras, a 10 MP front camera on the outside, and a 4 MP camera on the inside.

To sum it up

The Samsung Fold 3 makes the previous Galaxy Fold models look like a prototype. With this phone, you get to enjoy most of the features found in the Z Fold 2 and the new features highlighted in this post. All in all, we think this phone is great value for money. Even though the starting price of $1799 is still high, the improvements made on this phone make every dollar worth it.
